Do You Accept Insurance?

 

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not accept insurance. With private pay, you are not bound to the restrictions of your particular insurance plan (such as limits on number of sessions allowed or having to track deductibles), and your privacy is further protected.

However, you may contact your insurance company directly to determine if your plan allows for out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits, in which case you may be eligible for partial reimbursement for therapy sessions from your health plan. If eligible, I will happily provide a superbill (a special itemized invoice created by mental health or medical providers) for you to submit, along with a claims form that you will complete (typically accessible through your insurance company's website). 

 

How Much Does Therapy Cost?

 

Fees are structured according to market rate for similar services with quality/expert care in Washington D.C. I offer a free 10 minute phone consultation upon request prior to scheduling an intake appointment, where I will happily answer any questions regarding treatment and further ease any ambivalence about beginning therapy. Please call to further review session rates.

Methods of payment include cash, check and electronic transfer. Payment is requested at the time of service. At the end of each month, I will gladly provide a monthly statement if needed. 

 

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

 

Due to limited appointment availability and high demand of services, I ask that you provide as much advanced notice as possible if a cancellation or rescheduling of appointment is needed. Notice given within 72 hours of scheduled appointment time will result in a cancellation fee, and notice given within 24 hours of scheduled appointment time/no-shows will result in a charge of the full fee of the session. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time. 

 

 

How Does Confidentiality Work?

 

At the time of your intake appointment, you will be provided with paperwork that reviews HIPAA privacy rules and regulations, as well as all limits to confidentiality (as Licensed Professional Counselors are mandated reporters). In short, everything discussed in sessions remains confidential unless you request in writing to have information released to a specific person or organization for any number of reasons (such as to a psychiatrist for collaborative treatment purposes). Limits to confidentiality (instances where I am required by law to make a report to the appropriate authority or have a duty to warn) include, but may not be limited to, instances where I am made aware of or suspect a threat of imminent danger to client or others (by suicide, homicide, or infliction of serious bodily harm); if I am made aware of or suspect instances of prior or current abuse or neglect of a minor or vulnerable adult; or in very rare instances, if a court of law subpoenas your information. 

Please note that I cannot ensure the confidentiality of any form of communication through electronic media, including e-mail and text messaging. I also maintain a professional Instagram account as a resource for community members, as well as to connect with other professionals. Following this account does increase your exposure as it is a public account, and therefore I ask that you participate at your own discretion. I reserve the right to delete or limit any activity that I believe may threaten your confidentiality. 

I will take all measures to ensure your privacy and protect your information, above and beyond what is the minimum required by law wherever possible. Your trust in me, in therapy, and in the therapeutic relationship as a safe space is of top importance to me. 

 

 

What If I Have An Emergency?

 

 Outpatient mental health therapy is not meant to take the place of crisis intervention. If you have a life threatening emergency, please call 911 or go directly to your local hospital. You may also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline for 24-hour support at 1-800-273-8255.
